The Horses Speak
Horses. The free spirit. They ‘know’ freedom. Running through the open pastures, living in the present.
Why are so many afraid of them?
They stand in their own power. Horses won’t back down. They will throw us to the ground, look at us, and think… “There you go, you don’t have trust… within yourself.”
Horses are true to themselves. Yet, they are so unconditional as well. Anyone who has ever felt the heart connection with horses know how spiritual they are… how much they can teach us about our fears.
I had a horse. And he didn’t appear in my life because of all my birthday wishes… Did I know about horses? No. But having a horse was my dream. Was I afraid? Yes. Did he know it? Yes. But, I’d brush him and he’d rest his head on my shoulder. We had a special connection. We loved. He’d take me on trails… trusting. I was told from others at the stable that I was doing it wrong… I couldn’t let the horse do what it wanted. I had to control him.
Why do we have to “break the spirit” of anything? Why do people feel that they have to control the free spirited?
I went to an art gallery opening tonight. I live in Mystic, Connecticut one of the yachting towns. The show was full of boats, marshes, beaches… beautiful artwork. What won the awards? A bronze sculpture of a horse… and a painting of two horses, a little abstract, running. And leaving the parking lot, the radio played…
The Horses Speak. Wild Horses…
“Be true and trust.”
Last night, in a dream, the wild horses visited and spoke without words…. and I smiled.
Animals are most amazing creatures. They often seem more attuned to their spirits than human beings. I sense we can learn a lot from animals themselves and also from our totems.

Hi Tania,
I am the lady your daughter works for, very nice tribute to the horse you share with us all. This is how I feel about our special equine friends that grace our lives & hopefuly us for them.
I’de like to think as good Horsemen & Women we do not controll the their spirt. Together, both will learn how to channel through each others spirt ,both asking for guidience and out of that you get respect. And share the love of a horse!
